Here’s a trick to send SMS text messages for free via Cronote. You must know the recipient’s cell phone carrier (i.e. AT&T, Verizon, etc.).
- Look up your carrier on a list of SMS gateways. An SMS gateway is an email address that you can use if you want to send an email and have it arrive as a text message on someone’s phone.
- In the Cronote Recipients field, enter the phone number (no punctuation and including the area code), followed by the SMS gateway address. For example, if your AT&T number is (123) 456-7890, enter 1234567890@txt.att.net.
- Complete the remaining Message and Delivery Time fields.
By doing this, you have essentially scheduled an email Cronote that will arrive as an SMS Cronote. Since our email Cronotes are free, you have avoided using an SMS Cronote credit.
Please be aware this method is not as reliable as scheduling an actual SMS Cronote. You must also be sure of the recipient’s carrier. We thus cannot guarantee its delivery as well as we can for an SMS Cronote.
